Creating an Image Rapid Recovery Backup Set

This page will help you create an Image backup set from the management portal.  Before attempting to make an Image backup set, you may want to consult with our Technical Specifications page to make sure the system you are attempting to backup is compatible.

Note - You cannot image dynamic volumes with the Intronis software. Only basic, NTFS volumes can be backed up with Image backup sets.

Directions

  1. Log into the management portal andimagepage1.png navigate to the computer account you want to add an Image backup set to.

  2. On the Computer page, go to the Backup tab and hit the button next to Physical Imaging Rapid Recovery.

  3. First, set the name of this new backup set by clicking on the name at the top or on the button next it.  Then, choose where you want to store the backup using the Path: field at the top.  If you plan on using the Rapid Recovery feature of the Physical Imaging backups, we advise you store the backups on the Hyper-V host you will use for restores.

  4. Pick which volumes you want included in the backup set (boot volumes must be included together).  If a volume is grayed-out in the list, it may be selected in another Physical Imaging backup set or may not be a supported disk type.

    Hit Next to continue.

  5. imagepage2.pngSet a schedule for the backups by choosing a recurrence interval (hours, days or weeks) and on which days the backup will run.  If you want to add more than one schedule, click the Add New button.

    Hit Next to proceed.

  6. imagepage3.pngOn the Retention tab, choose how many versions of the backup you will retain.  Keep in mind the more revisions you keep, the further back in time you will be able to restore from.

When you have set the archiving rule you want, click Next.

  7. imagepage4.pngNext, choose where you want the temporary folder to be.  For Physical Imaging, you will only need 1-2 GB of temporary space to perform the backups.

After choosing where the temporary folder will go, click Next to see a summary of the backup set or hit Create Backup Set to finalize creation of the backup set.
